High-performance cartridge heaters

 

The design of the high-performance cartridge heaters means they can be used in extreme cases (high working temperature, high wattage density – up to 60 W/cm2 , small dimensions, short non-heating ends) heating of solid substances, and gases, where the other technologies used in heating rods with insulation are unsuitable.

The maximum recommended operating temperature on the surface of the high-performance cartridge is 600°C for ASI 304 casing or 750°C for AISI 309 casing.

High-performance cartridge heaters are mostly used in the following applications: injections of plastics, packing technology, casting of zinc, heating of stamping surfaces, contact heating of metal parts, etc.dvtv

Cartridge heaters with a 5 mm diameter with glass-textile insulation of leads inserted into the cartridge heater are not produced with a thermocouple. If two values of the maximum recommended values are stated for outlets with insulation inserted into the cartridge heater, the lower value corresponds to the glass-textile insulation. The higher value of the maximum recommended current is for leads with Teflon insulation.

The maximum recommended values of the input power of cartridge heaters at 230 V are defined by the design parameters from the viewpoint of permitted current values. The values of the input power cannot be produced for any length of cartridge heaters. Higher current and input power values are only possible in some cases. Consultation is required in the case of a request for another diameter or length.

Tolerances

Diameter:  -0.02/-0.07 mm.

Length of cartridge heaters: +2%/-2% of the length; up to length 100 mm ± 2 mm. In case of cartridge heaters with threaded fittings or conical thread +0/-2%.

Wattage tolerances: +10%/-10% (measured at working temperature).

In addition to standard cartridge heater diameters, we produce cartridge heaters in inches: 1/4“ (6.35 mm), 3/8“ (9.525 mm), 1/2“ (12.7 mm), 5/8“ (15.875 mm), 3/4“ (19.05 mm).

Other diameters, tolerances of diameter or the length can be ordered after negotiation.

The maximum possible precision of grinding is +/-0.015 mm.

Camber:

  • up to 100 mm of the length of the cartridge heater – 0.1 mm
  • for the length of cartridge heaters 200 mm  – 0.15 mm
  • for the length of cartridge heaters 300mm  – 0.2 mm
